2-4 Weeks Before Appointment:
-
Avoid the sun. Sunburnt skin must fully heal before we can tattoo the area.
-
Moisturize! Dry skin can be more difficult and take longer to tattoo. It’s very helpful to start moisturizing the area daily.
-
Do not come in with any spray tan or self tanner. We cannot tattoo over these pigments.
Day Before and Of Appointment:
-
Get a good night's sleep; rest is important.
-
Stay hydrated.
-
Stay nourished. EAT A GOOD MEAL! It is crucial to eat before being tattooed, and during breaks.
-
Dress comfortably. Make sure the area being tattooed is easily accessible. The clothes you wear may get ink on them.
-
Come prepared. We recommend packing a small bag. You will NEED: State ID; cash/card. You may WANT: lunch/snack bag; water bottle; book; headphones; phone charger;
We are an 18+ only studio. We do not offer any tattoo or piercing services to minors.
You are welcome to bring guests (but we recommend that you take this time for yourself!). We ask that you bring only 1 guest, as multiple can be overwhelming for you and your artist. We ask that you do not bring children.
Please arrive on time for your appointment. If you are more than 30 minutes late, you may have to reschedule and the deposit will be applied as a cancellation fee. You must provide a valid State ID at your appointment. Without a valid State ID, we cannot service you, and you will have to reschedule.

If you come to your appointment and want major changes made, your artist may not be able to do it that day; you may have to reschedule; and the deposit will be forfeited. Your artist will absolutely have time for minor changes.
Once you arrive, your artist will provide a Client Consent Form for you to fill out, read and sign. You may have to wait in the front area for a short period. Once your artist is ready, they will come and bring you back to their station.
At the station, your artist will first show you the design, and any minor changes can be discussed and made. Your artist will provide multiple size options, and you will collaborate to find the best size and placement.
Once the stencil is placed, it can be cleaned off and replaced as many times as necessary, until the artist and you both approve. Remember – you are allowed and encouraged to speak up about your tattoo and preferences. You should never feel pressured into getting a tattoo that you are not happy with. It's important to communicate with your artist, and your artist should be communicating with you.
Your artist may make suggestions regarding the content, color, size, and complexity of your tattoo – this is to ensure the longevity, legibility, and overall beauty of your tattoo. Artists have the right to decline making a tattoo that is not tattooable in their professional opinion (i.e. will not hold up over time); you have the right to decline a design that you feel is ultimately not what you want.
During the tattoo, your artist will do their best to keep you comfortable. Depending on the length of the session, your artist may take a break. You may also ask to take a break. Communicate with your artist if there is anything you need or if you have any questions.
After the tattoo is completed or the session is over, your artist will clean and bandage your tattoo. Your artist will then go over tattoo aftercare, and provide you with a copy of aftercare instructions to take home. If you have any questions or concerns, make sure to ask your artist. Then, you'll head back up front to pay. We can accept cash or card payments.
The first touch-up is always free. Any further touch-ups, or touch-ups of another artist's work, will be charged at the artist's regular rate.
DAY 1-2: Wear the initial bandage up to 8hrs. After you remove the bandage, clean and moisturize the area. You may re-bandage your tattoo if necessary, but its recommended to let the tattoo breathe. Avoid tight or fuzzy clothing.

DAY 3-30: Clean and moisturize 2-3 times a day. Let your tattoo breathe. Avoid tight or fuzzy clothing.
Talk with your artist or email gemini.sun.studio@gmail.com with any questions.
TO CLEAN & MOISTURIZE:
First, run warm water over your tattoo for a few minutes. Then, with clean hands, wash gently using unscented, castile soap. Pat dry with a clean towel. Gently pat in a thin layer of aftercare salve until its fully absorbed. We recommend Dr. Bronner's soap, and Lakota Made’s Tattoo Salve or coconut oil. Clean and moisturize 2-3 times a day for 4 weeks. To prevent scabbing and for the best healing, it's important to keep your tattoo moisturized, but not too wet or dry.
DO:
Wash your hands before touching your tattoo.
Keep the area clean & moisturized.
Let your tattoo breathe.
Wear loose, soft clothing.
Follow instructions for the full 4 weeks of healing time.
Use oil-based soaps & salves that contain NO fragrance or petroleum
DON’T:
Go to a shared gym for at least 2 weeks
Swim/soak or sunbathe/tan for at least 3 weeks.
Wear tight or fuzzy clothing.
Let your tattoo dry out.
